We had yet another successful year with our Lagoon season passes. You would think we would be over it by now, but we aren't. It is the perfect place to go and spend a few hours to make the most of your summer day.
We started the season off again with Lindsey and Asher on a Saturday May 19th. We went for a few hours in the afternoon and it was great.
Me and the girls went together on June 5th. Vivi was so excited to make it back to "Goon". Stella was such a trooper to spend so much time going on all the kiddie rides with Vivi. We rode the baby Tidal Wave boat together, and it was Vivi's first time. I think she liked it fine. So it gave me the guts to try to put her on Puff. We got the best video and pictures of Vivi on her first roller coaster. She has been brave enough to go a few other times, but pretty much says "no puff" when we walk past it now.
I few days later we went again for the evening on June 8th. I don't know why, but Vivi is always scared of the carousel. Once it starts she likes it, but there is something about sitting on it that just sends her in a tizy. I guess it isn't as fun as the Bulgy the Whale. I do love that Stella can still fit into Bulgy this year and that she is willing to ride it with her sister.
On June 20th we spent Stella's birthday morning at Lagoon with Grammie and Ashley and the kids. It was our first time getting to with my mom and use her pass that we got her for Christmas. We had a fun morning together because the park wasn't too busy. We went on Terror Ride first, and that is one ride that I do not make Vivi go on. She hates even walking past it. She holds up her hands and covers her eyes, and she will occasionally point to it and say: "I don't like that." I don't blame her, as a kid I hated it too and didn't ride it until I was much older.
On July 4th we went as a family getting some use out of Brenty's pass. It was a pretty hot day. My main motivation for going was showing off Vivi's adorable holiday shirt. It was so quite that day. We went on The Rocket and we didn't even have to wait in line. It was awesome. Brent dug deep and was willing to go on the train with us even though he said he wouldn't go on any rides. I think holding Vivi's hand helped him to feel more brave.
We had a little adventure with Ashley and the gang in July 5th. Vivi tried the bumper cars for the first time, but she didn't get very far. We all went on the Log Ride together, and Vivi did not love it. I think getting splashed in the face was the kind of surprise you don't want to have. After that Ashley toto the littles and I took the bigs to ride the roller coaster. I love riding that with them. So fun! Then I went ahead and let them ride Jet Star without me. And I think that was the last time Stella felt up to getting banged around this season and she hasn't gone on it since.
On July 14th we went for the evening with Lindsey. We hung out together for a little bit, but then The big kids went on some rides and I hung out alone with Vivi. It was super fun actually, she was being so cute about showing her stamp and haven't fun on the baby rides. As it got darker we sat down and had a Dole whip treat. Special times with my Vivi. Vivi loves Lindsey so much too, it's so cute watching them together.
Suzy and the kids still really look forward to coming to Lagoon when they visit, this year our Lagoon day was July 16th. Suzy's oldest, Noah hung out with his older cousin the whole time so it was just us girls. When we were walking in I saw my friend Ariane's husband and I went up to him and asked him if she was there. She was and it was so fun to see her and catch up. There is something about that girl that I can go without talking our seeing her for years and then when I do see her we just get into the deep stuff instantly. I really love her and seeing her with Suzy was a great treat.
As usual we had a great day with Suzy and the kids. I left for a bit to get Vivi home for the evening, but it still meant Suzy had to ride the skyride all alone. Boo. The highlight of the day was going rattlesnake rapids twice. We laughed so hard and the second time I kept my phone out and everyone was freaking out about it. I only wish I had a video of how much those girls were making me laugh.
We didn't stay at the park that late. We went to Suzy's mom's house and the kids went swimming until pretty late. It was a super fun summer day and night.
I'm not sure what was going on with Brent on Friday night July 27th. I think it was a temple night or something churchy so we girls went to Lagoon for the evening. Stella was a trooper again on some baby rides and we decided to give the giant Ferris wheel a try. Vivi was NOT having it, and she cried a little, but she calmed down and gave it a chance. Sometimes it is fun to get on that and get a good view of the park. Then as we were leaving there was NO line for Dracula's castle so we decided to traumatize her further and take her on that ride. She can't see much but she hated it. Stella and I got a kick out of taking her though so it was worth it.
On August 8th, we made out way with the cousins again. We had the kids rids some baby rides together and then we went on Odysea. Vivi was scared of course, but she ended up liking it and thinking it was fun. For the first time ever, we let Ava and Stella go off on their own to ride some big rides in the park. It thankfully, worked out great. Finn and Vivi were adorable on the rides together. Finn really wanted to ride the kid swing ride, but for some reason Vivi is scared of that ride. So I offered to go with them. It was my first time riding it. I don't know what I was thinking it made me so dizzy. But I am glad I gave it a try once and the video footage of the kids riding it with me was worth it.
I had a rough day on August 9th. I can't remember why now, because those kind of days just kind of blend together right now. But I knew a trip to Lagoon with my Stella for the evening would cheer me up and it did. We had a great time that night and I found a sweatshirt that said "Lagoon heals everything." And I thought...yep...
So I have been making it a bit of a tradition to go to Lagoon on the first day of school. It is still open and it is a fun way to forget that summer is over for a few hours. This year we weren't able to go the first day because Stella had dance class. But they were open until 6 on Tuesday the 21st. I checked Stella out early so we could get a food few hours in. It was an AWESOME day to be at the park. It was a ghost town. We walked right on the log ride and didn't get too wet, although Vivi will tell you "I GOT WET!" Stella and I took off to ride a few rides alone and had no wait at all on the rocket or cannibal. It was great. We spent some time in the gift shop and when we came out the park was magically completely empty. I had never seen anything like it and it was pretty great to close down the park. I had to take Vivi to the bathroom and it was weird to be walking around the kid land in the daylight with not another soul in sight, so we had to pose for a few pics. I love how fun Vivi is in pictures. I'm so glad we made the effort to go that day.
Our last official summer day was September 1st. We went with Lindsey and Brent came too so he could take Vivi on the baby rides while we got to ride the big rides. We didn't get to ride the roller coaster, well the kids did, but it broke down and we gave up. Asher talked Stella into riding The Samurai, which is one of the few rides in the park she hasn't tried. I don't think she liked it very much and she hasn't gone on it since, I don't blame her really. We were all going to try and go on the Ferris Wheel with Vivi, but she wasn't having it and the line was crazy anyway so we called it a night.
While in line for The Terror Ride we made the decision as a group to have Stella grow out her bangs. It was a big moment, and something I had been fighting for awhile now, but I guess it was time.
Another great summer in the books! Taking Vivi definitely added some extra magic to a place that could be getting a little old news by now, but Vivi makes it fun. Also, for now there is just something so summer about being at Lagoon for me. Even if we only go on a few rides when we make it out there before we get ready to call it a night, I am always glad we made the effort to enjoy our season passes. It really is one of the greatest investments I have ever made.
