WATER & A ROOF

Last night, after a busy dance-recital day, lovely breakfast, and fun, fun, fun with the Gummows, we headed downtown to my parent's house. Heidi wanted a photo shoot of Cy before he gets his braces on and wanted them on the roof. So I made dinner there and then we took some pictures. Cy was the perfect model as usual.

There were some puddles on the roof so what started out as a rousing game of splash in the puddles, turned into Dad getting brooms and having the kids sweep up the water to the drains, and then naturally the brooms then became a ride. Stella was the first to try and liked it best. Catcher and Wyn tried it a few times but didn't like it as much. I even gave it a try and raced Stella and lost...boo hoo. Cy was unable to participate because he was not allowed to ruin his clothes. It was really all too fun. 

I LOVE MY LITTLE DANCER

We had another great year at Miss Julie's dance. Stella has probably outgrown it by now, but she loved it and has learned a lot. I can't believe how fast the two years went by. The theme of this year's recital was America, and Stella was decked out in her signature color, blue. 

First up was tap and she loved the fringe skirt that she got to wear. She loved how it felt and loved watching it swish from side to side. Her tap number was great, some real show-stopping moments for sure. And as usual, Stella never let any other girl get in front of her--she always managed to dance her way to being 100% seen.

I liked her ballet costume very much, and her dance was sweet. Stella was great at pretending that one of her shoes wasn't too small. At some point recently, she and another girl accidentally swapped shoes, so now she has one 8 and one 8½ sized ballet shoe. I told her she just had to pretend it didn't hurt and perform. That's showbiz, baby. Stella also loved her ballerina necklace from Grammy.

We were honored to have the Gummows make a special trip for the recital. Catcher even missed a baseball game so he could be there. She loved having her boys in the audience and giving them high-fives after each performance. They even did a special "hands in" cheer for her. Stella is lucky to have so many people who love her come and support her dancing.

FRIDAY AFTERNOON FUN

The boys were in town this weekend. Friday we used our passes to to to Trafalga in Lehi. It was a pretty good time. The lines were long and the place is run by idiots, but we still managed to enjoy our afternoon. 

The best and most hilarious event was watching the kids on the bumper boats--the water and the boats with our kids in them gave Heidi and I the serious giggles. Then Stella and I cheered road racers Heidi and Cy on as they drove go-karts. Then we played a rousing game of mini-golf where Wyn wowed me with his athletic abilities once again. 

CHECK YA LATER, PRESCHOOL

May 23rd was Stella's last day at Children's Discovery Preschool. I never took any pictures at school, only videos of her concerts. But I thought I would post her class picture and her school photo that I of course did not order because she is way cuter when I take her picture...obviously. 

It was fun to see her coloring samples. The first one was from September and the second one from May. I can't believe how much she has improved. 

On her report card her teachers said: "Stella has a special place in our hearts. She has a kindness in her that is very sweet. She has worked very hard in learning group and is growing by leaps and bounds! Stella has always been eager to help the teachers. She has been very attentive and able to stay on task. Stella is very thoughtful of her classmates and has always spoken kind words. Thank you for letting us teach this darling little girl." (Mom agrees with teacher's assessment of child.)
